It's ALIVEEE!

Well almost, by now it's more like christmas in my pinball machine

Dr. Frankenstein would be proud!

Small breakthrough!

I finally converted 25v to 0,7v computer friendly input!

0,7 volt is currently too less, it has to be 2,5v or plus, but from here we can start talking!

Tuesday

On Tuesday I went to visit flipperwinkel.nl in Arnhem. I bought several things, new rubbers, wax, a new ball, new flippers, and new flipper coils. I didn't need to replace my counter mechanism. I've been told that it used to work in that fashion. So I guess I'm the noob around here.

The installation of all the new materials was quickly done, except for the coils. It took some time to install and adjust the coils to the right settings. But on Wednesday I got both coils working and thus the Pinball machine.

And here's a movie of the flipper up and running (you should turn your head 90 degrees)

Monday

So on Monday I wanted to try to make the Pinball speak to the Computer via a Wiring USB interface. The Pinball target circuit puts out 25V versus the interface which only can hold a mere 5V max. With my basic knowledge of physics I figured I needed some resistors to do the job. When I went to get some the people at the shop stongly advised me not to build this circuit. The induction build up in the resistor after could eventually and most probably blow my Wiring interface. They advised me to use opto-couplers. These opto couplers would isolate my interface in the circuit from being damaged.

So I tried a few set ups, did not yet find a working one, but I'm working on it.

The Concept in global (and dutch)

For those who are able to read dutch and want to know more about the concept, the global version is to be found here.

There she is! the Gottlieb Jungle

A few day's ago I finally got my hands on the bargain, an 1970's Gottliebs Jungle. There were some parts which needed replacement. Here are the first pictures, before it was up and running.

A day later I started to replace some broken parts and clean the machine in order to make it playable. With the help of some information from http://www.flipperwinkel.nl I got it working. But there are still some mechanics inside not working to well. For instance the mechanism controlling the counter.

Besides this malfunctioning piece of material, some other stuff has to be replaced, I'm going down to flipperwinkel.nl by tuesday to get this stuff.

Tomorrow i'm going to post some pictures of the machine, working. Also i'll be trying to make the first communications with the computer via an Wiring usb interface.
